For the preparation of activated (frozen) fine powder, fruit bodies of bordered tinder (Fomes fomentarius) collected on birch trees in the Vladimir, Kaluga, Vologda and Moscow regions were used. Mushrooms are dried at a temperature of 30-35 ° C, which ensures complete preservation of pharmacological qualities. Description

Pharmacological and medical properties

The mushroom contains antitumor substances (ergosterol, fungisterol, isoergosterone, etc.). The presence of bioactive components with antibacterial and antiviral effects has been established. For example, folicol stops the growth and reproduction of a number of pathogenic bacteria. Antiviral action is indicated for decoction and tinder powder, and for aqueous and alcoholic extracts — suppression of hay bacillus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and pathogenic bacteria Serratia marcescens. Alcohol extracts lower the cholesterol content in the blood and have an antioxidant and immunostimulating effect. Of other active substances, it contains agaricinic and buricolic acids, polysaccharide lanophil, d-glucosamine; fumaric, ricinolic, citric and malic organic acids; 30% resins (with with age, the resin content increases to 65-70%); fatty oil, phytosterol, glucose and mannitol. Fruit bodies collected on birch trunks are particularly active.

Traditional and folk medicine

In the old days, tinder boxes were used as cotton wool. To do this, the mushrooms were boiled in water for a long time, and then flattened with hammers into thin fibers. This “cotton wool” was very hygroscopic and had antibacterial properties, which contributed to the rapid healing of wounds, and was used not only by the peoples of Europe, but also Asia and North America. In folk medicine of Russia, the mushroom was used as a hemostatic agent, for digestive disorders, cancer of the esophagus, stomach, uterus, hemorrhoids, dyspepsia, gastritis, nervous disorders. In European folk medicine, it was used to treat nails growing into the skin, as well as tea for bladder diseases. The local population in British Columbia put compresses from the crushed pulp of fruit bodies for the treatment of rheumatism. In traditional Chinese medicine, the mushroom was used for lung diseases, stomach pains, asthma, as a sedative. In Japan, the mushroom was used as a remedy for blood stagnation, and as a tea for diseases of the respiratory system and flu. In India, tinder was used as a diuretic, laxative and tonic for a weakened nervous system.
In the case of cosmetic use, an ordinary tinder is a valuable drug with which you can get rid of nails growing into the skin. Ingrown toenail (onychocryptosis) is a disease that is associated with the ingrowth of the nail plate into the outer or inner edge of the nail bed, as a result of which soft tissues become inflamed (the finger swells, the skin turns red) and painful sensations arise. Usually ingrowth occurs on the big toe, but there are ingrown toenails on other fingers as well. The causes of onychocryptosis are diverse: heredity, incorrectly selected shoe size, fungal infection, injuries, improper nail trimming. Treatment occurs through the use of baths with infusion or decoction of the mushroom.
